How to Prepare for Split Air Conditioner Installation

If you are planning on having a Split Air Conditioner installation in your home or business premises, you need to make some decisions regarding the location of the units, before the HVAC contractors arrive for installation.

The Location of Indoor and Outdoor Units

Firstly, you need to decide where you want to position the indoor and outdoor units. The indoor unit needs to be where the air can easily be distributed around the interior, without being blocked by large objects. It also needs to be mounted around 10 feet from the floor, but still, be accessible for cleaning and air conditioning service. If the Split Air Conditioner is going to be within a bedroom, it is advisable to mount it above the bed for maximum air flow. If it is going above a window it needs to be mounted parallel to the window, so that it doesn’t look out of place.

The Strength of the Wall

A very important detail to check before the HVAC contractors arrive for air conditioning installation is whether the wall you have decided to put the AC unit on is strong enough to support an indoor unit.

The Space Between the Air Conditioner and the Wall

When the AC units are being installed there needs to be a minimum of 15cm gap around the unit, in order for the air to flow without hindrance.

The Distance Between Indoor and Outdoor Units

In order to have a maximum cooling effect and to help your units work efficiently, there needs to be a distance no longer than 15 m between the outdoor and indoor units. The closer they are the better, as the coolant has to pass from the inner unit to the outer unit in order for you to feel the effect.
